The enjoy of gaming, 8-bit style!

8 and 16-bit video games, like Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Mario Bros. or Street Fighter were the stars of 80s and 90s. For children who lived and grew up in that era, every resemblance that reminds any of those memories, is a treasure. Therefor when I see now and again a good 8-bit style video games is published, I cannot help myself but to be excited about it.

Starmachine2000

"Starmachine2000" is a single from Swedish folktronica band Wintergatan (The Milky Way) that has been published later in an album with the same name. The concept of this song is love and loneliness. Whenever I watch this music video, especially the part that the star comes and ends moon's loneliness, I cannot help myself but to simile and feel an big wave of affection for poor moon. Maybe even a bit envy him. The entire song is full of hope and happiness and love and that's kind of the meaning of love for me.

Alphonse de Lamartine's postcard

Arrangement and graphic design are my two little hobbies. I did this a few days ago, in honor of Alphonse de Lamartine. It's a 14 x 14 cm (about 5.5 x 5.5 inch) card and is suitable to print on any standard A5 paper. You can find download link for 300dpi version at the bottom of this post.

The quote is from the book "Graziella" which he wrote in 1852 and is about a young French man who falls for a fisherman's granddaughter:

The JPL, or Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the same famous JPL you saw on the Martian movie, beside it's very impressive work of genius on NASA's outer space missions, has a little interesting side work called "Visions of the Future". How a black hole eats a star, a NASA vision

from description of the video:

This artist’s rendering illustrates new findings about a star shredded by a black hole. When a star wanders too close to a black hole, intense tidal forces rip the star apart. In these events, called “tidal disruptions,” some of the stellar debris is flung outward at high speed while the rest falls toward the black hole. This causes a distinct X-ray flare that can last for a few years...

During the tidal disruption event, filaments containing much of the star's mass fall toward the black hole. Eventually these gaseous filaments merge into a smooth, hot disk glowing brightly in X-rays. As the disk forms, its central region heats up tremendously, which drives a flow of material, called a wind, away from the disk.

A memorable tribute to Hayao-San

Earlier in 2014, Hayao Miyazaki, one of the founders of Studio Ghibli, and also one of the greatest anime directors of all time, announced that his last piece, The Wind Rises, will be his final work as a director. Since then, we saw several tributes to his great works that inspired several generations of children and adults. But among all of them, this short 3D video from "dono", a French Vimeo user, is somthing else. It's really heartbreaking!

Gorgeous 3D Tribute to Hayao Miyazaki

"Somam" from "Zaghoot"

I took these two photos about four weeks ago in Rudsar City. This region is called "Zaghoot", and is located near the shores of the Caspian Sea. The mountain you see in both pictures, is "Somam" or "Somamous", that is a part of Alborz mountains in north of Iran, Gilan Province.

P.S. Those black dots you see in the first photo, are birds, not some camera glitches. :D

Inge Lehmann ForMemRS (May 13, 1888 – February 21, 1993) was a Danish seismologist and geophysicist who discovered the Earth's inner core. In 1936, she postulated from existing seismic data the existence of an inner core with physical properties distinct from the outer core's and that Earth's core is not a single molten sphere. Seismologists, who had not been able to propose a workable hypothesis for the observation that the P-wave created by earthquakes slowed down when it reached certain areas of the inner Earth, quickly accepted her conclusion.

"Les Champs-Elysées" by Joe Dassin is one of my favorite french songs. Dassin sings kind of sweet and soft and it's very delightful to listen to this song. This music has been used as epilogue music in the movie "The Darjeeling Limited", 2007 how ever this song is far older than that.

Nostalgia of 50's

I'm not much old to remember 50's but these sort of pictures trigger kind of nostalgia in me. I don't know why!? Just feel it in that way. Anyway, enjoy the picture, it's very beautiful and relaxing (and enjoy the nostalgia, in case you have! :D ).

Really daramatic!

This is a music video about retouching. The difference is really dramatic. Retouched pictures, photos and advertisements, especially those have being used in the fashion industry have had a really bad impact on the behavior of people, especially teens and youths, that used to be natural (at least less artificial and bogus!). This is a good example that shows how a simple software can turn a common truth to a interesting lie!
